WIDDER HOTEL - ZURICHS LUXURY HIDEAWAY, Zurich – A Smart Stay in the City
About the Hotel
Historic Luxury Suites
The Widder Hotel occupies nine medieval townhouses in Zurich's Old Town, blending original Gothic beams and stucco ceilings with mid-century furniture by Le Corbusier and Eames. Rooms range from 21 m^2 design rooms with Corbusier chairs to the 85 m^2 Penthouse Suite, featuring an 80 m^2 rooftop terrace overlooking Lake Zurich. All include high-speed Wi-Fi, soundproof windows, and green marble bathrooms with rainfall showers.
Award-Winning Dining
The Widder Restaurant holds 2 Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points, serving French-inspired dishes with local ingredients. For casual dining, Boucherie AuGust offers Swiss meat specialties like tartare and tripe. The Widder Bar mixes craft cocktails, while the summer-only Widder Garden serves Mediterranean snacks. Breakfast includes eggs from the hotel's Herrliberg farm.
City & Lake Access
Guests can use the hotel's private boat for transfers to Thalwil or join guided bar tours across Zurich. The 24-hour gym has Technogym equipment, and jogging routes start at Lindenhof. Winter packages include nutrition coaching and outdoor workouts with a personal trainer.
Old Town Location
The hotel is 500 meters from Bahnhofstrasse shopping and 1 km from Zürich Hauptbahnhof. Nearby landmarks include Lindenhof hill (300 m), Grossmünster (500 m), and the Swiss National Museum (1 km). A Mercedes S-class airport transfer costs CHF 150.
Tailored Services
Concierges arrange wakeboarding on Lake Zurich or e-bike rentals. Business travelers access a printer near reception. Events can book the 215 m^2 Widder Garage, a former parking lot turned nightclub. Sustainability initiatives include soap recycling and farm-to-table ingredients from the hotel's vineyards and Simmental cattle farm.

Guest Ratings & Reviews
The hotel is a unique gem in the heart of Zurich's Old Town, offering a funky and fabulous stay. The service is exceptional, the location perfect for exploring the city, and the dining experience truly delightful, though the room assignment could be improved.
The hotel's location is ideal, central to restaurants, cafes, and shopping areas, and within walking distance of main tourist sites. The rooms are beautiful, though slightly smaller than before, and offer delightful chocolates. The service is exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The dining experience was mediocre, and the facilities overall were satisfactory.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of pleasant surprises and slight disappointments. The rooms were uniquely decorated with riotously lime-green Eames loungers and thoughtful rose petal touches, though the outside area didn't quite match the non-smoking promise. The service was exceptionally helpful and friendly, catering to our needs like providing baby food. The location was a dream, just a short stroll away from Zurich's main attractions, although the nighttime church bells might disturb light sleepers. The dining options were extensive, especially on Saturdays, but seemed to quiet down on Sunday mornings. Overall, a unique hotel with some quirks worth noting.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location was superb, right in the heart of Zurich, making it easy to explore the city. The rooms were uniquely decorated and special, though being next to the elevator meant some noise. The service was top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The dining experience was excellent, exceeding my expectations. The facilities offered everything I needed for a great stay.
